2014-2015 Open Executive Board of Directors Positions

To be considered for an open Executive Board position, email your CV/Resume, specify which position you are interested in and provide a statement of intention (200 words or less) to Melissa Hedlund, Executive Director, [email protected],  by October 1, 2013.

General Responsibilities of All Executive Board Members

*Maintain knowledge of TLOTH, our mission and vision and have a vested personal commitment to our goals and objectives. 

*Be an advocate of TLOTH and believe in the work that we are
doing.

*Commit to a two year term (1/1/14-12/31/15)

*Communicate effectively with other members of executive board, Executive Director and volunteers 

*Provide support to other members of the executive board, Executive Director and volunteers

*With Executive Board, complete an annual review of the Executive Director 

*Participate in fundraising and assist with special events as needed. 
 
*Ensure adequate financial resources from a diverse pool of funding sources.
*Approve annual budget

*Assist with annual report

*Give annual financial contribution to TLOTH 

*Attend all Board (six per year) and applicable Committee meetings 

*Participate in strategic planning 

*Monitor and strengthen programming 

*Ensure legal and ethical integrity of TLOTH 

*Recruit future board and committee members 

*Build a competent executive board and upon term completion, train incoming members.

*Be familiar with Robert's Rules of Order


Treasurer

Job Description
*Disseminate paychecks to Executive Director on a timely basis
*Understand financial accounting for nonprofit organizations and be familiar with QuickBooks and Excel
*Serve as the chair of TLOTH’s Finance Committee
*Manage, with the finance committee, the board's review of  and action related to the board's financial responsibilities
*Work with the Executive Director to ensure that appropriate financial reports are made available to the board on a timely basis
*Work with Executive Director and present the annual budget to the board for approval
*Work with TLOTH's accountant and review the annual audit and answer board members' questions about the audit
*Complete all associated tax forms with accountant

Chair

Job Description
*Leads and oversees executive board meetings, making sure we stick to the time allotted for the meetings. 
*Works in partnership with the Executive Director to make sure board resolutions are carried out 
*Calls special meetings of the executive board as necessary 
*Prepares agenda for executive board meetings
*Acts as an alternate spokesperson for the TLOTH
*Periodically consults with board members on their roles and help them assess their performance


Secretary

Job Description
*Ensure the accuracy and safety of all executive board records 
*Review and take board minutes, post to Google group within a reasonable amount of time following each executive board meeting for executive board approval.
*Assume responsibilities of the chair in his/her absence
*Provide notice of meetings of the executive board when such notice is required
